This family home is situated in the seaside town of Teignmouth. The previous owner had a very dated UPV conservatory added to the rear elevation which not only blocked the sea views but also got too hot in the summer and too cold in the winter. It also made the access to the garden very difficult for the client’s young children, as they had to climb down wobbly wooden steps. The challenge was to create a garden level family space without losing light on the upper ground floor.
The family room extension transformed the living area of this traditional 3-bedroom house into a modern, light-flooded space. Providing access to the lower garden level, it serves as a great snug or an amazing entertainment room. With a green roof, cedar cladding, active glass, heated sandstone floor and the aluminium bi-fold doors, this build is stylish and very energy efficient.
