This unusual timber clad extension is a stylish addition to a good-sized family home in Exeter. Beautiful details such as a zinc roof, crittall style doors, herringbone parquet flooring, a log burner and dark timber cladding really make this project stand out form the crowd.
Another aspect that made this job special was the groundworks – we were quite baffled to find the site riddled with drains and sewer pipes, criss crossing it from all sides. These all needed to be redirected and, with the plot being close to the road and yet at a much lower level, proved a very complicated start.
The new extension – which replaces a garage and conservatory – adds lots more sitting space to the kitchen/ diner, a shower room, study area and, of course, views of the beautiful garden.
