Barn Conversion

Set in the heart of picturesque Chagford, tucked away behind a maze of courtyards sits this beautiful barn conversion. The client, who we have worked with on the previous project Passivhaus Retrofit, wanted to restore this derelict, traditional barn into a contemporary, low energy home that is full of light and quality features. The whole building has been designed and built to the strict Passivhaus standards.

The old barn had to be stripped right back to the stone gable walls and new foundations dug out of the granite riddled ground. Throughout the build, the client and our team worked closely together, ensuring that all designs that were drawn up on paper were actually the best ones for this building. This flexible approach produced a fantastic result and brought the project in on time and budget.

The key features of this upside down 2-bedroom home are triple-glazed aluminium windows, MVHR, zinc roof, larch cladding, granite stone walls, exposed timber beams, log burner, roof lights and under floor heating.
